Montana

My dad moved to montana a little over a year ago and I go up to visit him periodically, only for a few days at a time.  This was the only time we actually had something planned.  There were two things actually.
The first thing was looking at community colleges and universities for me to possibly attend, but the college I was the most interested in was the University of Montana, so we went there first, just to see it, walk through it, and enjoy its' majestic beauty!
We have a long time family friend who lives in Missoula, which is the town of the University of Montana.  She just so happens to be an alumni of the unversity.
She was kind enough to show us around the college, but when she took us to the admissions building, I felt an urge to back away.  All these thoughts invaded my mind, "What is she going to say in there?  Am I going to apply right now or even be interviewed?  I am not prepared for a college interview right now.  All I wanted to do was see the campus!"
But I followed her in anyway.  I was not going to let myself chicken out.
We went inside to the office with two young students working the desks.  Our friend asked one of them who we could talk to regarding my application.  The girl said the woman to talk was on a break and that we could wait, but almost immediately, she walked in the room, apparently early from her break, and asked us into her office.
In a nutshell:
-My dad asked about my residency
-That was taken care of
-I told her I was applying for fall 2011, so I could finish my two years of community college(to save money)
-She convinced me I should apply for fall 2010, because Montana community colleges are not very good and it would be a waste of my time and said my 3.2 GPA from fall semester would most likely get me accepted to the university
-I smiled and filled out an application
That was an exciting day!  Maybe I won't be a community college student for much longer.  That will call for a new, entirely different blog!
Until then...
The last thing my dad and I had planned for Montana was snow mobiling.  I was pretty excited.  I was expecting it be fairly easy and relaxing.  The couple(relatives of some kind) that invited us were super experienced, but I didn't think that mattered.  I mean, how hard can it be?
On that one day of snow mobiling, I'm pretty sure I burried my 'vehicle' in 5 ft of snow about 7 times.  It was so frustrating!  I couldn't accept that I was just really bad at it.
I don't know if I will do this again.  The burning gas smell gives you a head ache, and your body feels so stiff at the end of the day.  I've decided the inconveniences aren't really worth it.
But in the summer, a hike through those trails would be perfect.
No burning gas odor
No being resposible for a heavy piece of machinary
All you need is your day pack with water.
It's so low maintainence!
Oh and sunscreen, bug spray, food, and a camera
But still, much better than snow mobiling.
